A Church Called Home ~ Serve Day 2025

Mathew 20:28 "Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve."

We are partnering with churches all across the world on July 12th bringing opportunities to serve our local communities and share the love of God through practical acts of kindness. We are called to love others humbly as more important than ourselves. We serve with true Christian compassion being "others-focused."

There are several new Serve Day Teams going out to serve our community this year so be sure to read all of these options and select the "TICKET" for the group you will be joining. We have several options that are good for the whole family! Many groups have a participation limit and are first come first serve. It is important to sign up ASAP to guarantee your preferred spot.

1) Serve Day for Kids or Childcare for smaller children - This is a safe place for your kids or a Serve Opportunity for you!!

A place for children ages 5 and under to have the opportunity to serve in a safe environment while parents serve. There will be crafts and fun events planned.

Also if you love children and would like to serve with this team you will sign up under this option as well. We need everything from loving on the babies to helping the team teach our younger generation how to be the hands and feet of Jesus during their serve day projects. (Children 6 and up are encouraged to serve with their families.)

2) Island Home Park Health and Rehab (FAMILY FRIENDLY) - This Team will show love to the elderly community. The projects include painting ladies' nails playing games doing crafts and their favorite playing BINGO. They also love to have kids read to them and play games making this a great option for the whole family!

3) Carter High School (Family Friendly) - This group will be led by our one and only Brandon Arnwine who is also the assistant principal at this school! We will work together to clean out and de-W**d outdoor flower beds and perform some light landscaping. This will be a great activity for school-aged kids alongside adults.

4) Young Williams Animal Shelter (Family Friendly) - (Due to high demand we will be serving 2 separate locations this year) These teams will assist in toy prep cleaning dishes laundry and anything else the facility could need. And of course there will be plenty of time to love on and play with the animals. Donations are also accepted! They like blankets towels toys and snacks for cats and dogs.

5) Serving Those Who Serve - This group will meet at the church and will be in charge of preparing an environment of celebration for those who are out serving to come back for lunch and fellowship. This team will provide the “after-party” by setting up the tables chairs and decor. The meal will be catered in but we will help with any food prep needed. This opportunity is at the church no travel involved. Due to time constraints and food prep this may not be the best option for children.

6) Teacher Appreciation Project - This group will meet at the church and will pack appreciation boxes for our teachers back-to-school event. Once the team completes this activity they will serve alongside the Serving Those Who Serve team.

7) Johnson University (ages 16+) - Trail building. The school is creating hiking trails over 8 miles that will be made accessible to the students and the public. No one under the age of 16. Manual labor is involved. All digging supplies will be provided by Johnson University. If you have work gloves we suggest taking them.

8) South Doyle High School (STUDENTS TEAM ONLY) - This group is reserved for our STUDENTS MINISTRY offering them a place to serve together. ONLY THE STUDENTS MINISTRY TEAM SHOULD REGISTER FOR THIS PROJECT.

9) KARM STORE - Due to popular demand we are serving 2 locations this year! This team will volunteer inside a KARM retail store sorting through donated items and placing them throughout the store as needed.

10) Second Harvest Food Bank (Family Friendly) - This team will volunteer in the warehouse and food distribution areas of SHFB. You will sort through donated food and designate it to specific programs they offer. Light warehouse cleaning may also be added.

11) Brunch Bunch - Delivering love and a basket of goodies to ACCH members who are homebound due to illness/injury and are unable to attend regularly at the moment.

12) Smoky Mountain Children's Home - This team will be cleaning and organizing their storage warehouse at the children's home for all the supplies and donations.

13) Fountain City Elementary - Outdoor landscaping, such as weeding and mulching, is their main priority. They have also purchased Hosta plants that we will give a new home to in the garden provided. If you have any yard tools, you can bring them along, which would be great. The PTO community for this school will be coming out to assist us as well. It will be a great time to fellowship with the community families for this event!

14) Water Angels (Family Friendly)- This group will help sort through donations and organize their facility. Water Angels is a faith-based ministry for the hurting and broken in Knoxville, specializing in services for the unsafe, unsheltered, and addicted.

15) The Pointe at Life Spring (Family Friendly) - There are 45 residents at this facility. This group will spend special time with the ones who call this place home. There will be a salon representative attending this serve opportunity with us who will give hand massages. We will also help the team organize the residents' drawers and closets. Spending time and sharing the love of Jesus is the main priority for this serve. Again, children are encouraged to attend.

16) Photography Team - ACCH PHOTOGRAPHY TEAM ONLY! If you're a part of the Serve Day photography team as requested by the ACCH media team sign up for this option to ensure we have lunch and a shirt provided for you.

17) The Pregnancy Resource Center - This serve will include light cleaning and organizing. The Pregnancy Resource Center is an organization that provides pregnancy-related counseling and support from an antiabortion perspective.

18) Morning Point of Hardin Valley Senior Living (Family Friendly) - We have been apart of this loving community since 2020. This serve is to show up and be the heart of Jesus. Play games, tell or listen to stories... There may even be a surprise game of BINGO!

19) Undecided/Floater (Place me where needed) - Are there too many choices to choose from? Or maybe you don't care where you serve. Once registration closes we will place you on the team with the most need for volunteers.
